Summer Color Season Palette Makeup Ideas
The Summer Color Season is defined by being Cool, Soft and Light.
That means that Summers will look best in cooler colors (think blues, purples, and cool pinks), softer colors (think anything muted/ mixed with grey or heathered versus bright) and light colors (so not light blues over dark blues).
Within the Summer Palette you can be a Cool Summer if the cool element is most important (so you can tolerate a bit of brightness and a bit of dark color so long as it’s cool).
You can be Soft Summer if the soft element is most important (so you can tolerate a bit of warmth, a bit of dark color so long as they remain muted/ mixed with grey or heathered.)
Finally, you can be Light Summer if the light element is most important (so you can tolerate a bit of warm colors and a bit of bright colors so long as they are light!)
Now that we have that covered, let’s get into how that translates to MAKEUP
Summer Palette Makeup Looks
For the Summer girlies, I always say makeup wise- less is more!
As a soft and light season, you want to avoid anything too dark, bright or heavy looking.
Dramatic looks can include raspberry and plum lips. In general a red lip will read more “edgy" and not look super harmonious. As a Summer myself I won’t toss all my red lipstick just yet (just like I didn’t toss all my black!) but I will lean into looks that embrace my color harmony more often than not.
Lips
Lip colors in general will be cool pinks, rosey nudes and berries.
Eyes
Eyes are soft, with natural beige/ taupes and charcoal. Again, less is more with Summer eyes. Pinks, brows and camels can also be very nice.
A note on Summer eyebrows! I have heard summer brows called “ethereal brows.” Summers are very soft, so they tend to have softer brows. Brow pencil is great, but summers would not want to get brow tattoos or go too heavy on defining the brow— that softness is actually a part of your season!
Cheeks
Cool and light pinks work well. For more neutral palettes (Soft and Light Summer), slightly warmer blushes can work. Although some of the very light pinks may look too light- it will actually translate beautifully by adding color without being too heavy or dark!
